Founded in 1939 in the city of Ponta Grossa (Paraná) by teachers Roberto Emílio Mongruel and Altair de Oliveira Mongruel, SEPAM is a private educational institution offering programs ranging from early childhood education through elementary and high school to university entrance preparation. It operates two campuses: one in Ponta Grossa (established in 1939) and another in the city of Castro (opened in 1993), both in the state of Paraná.
SEPAM’s educational philosophy centers on the humanistic development of its students, and its faculty comprises teachers qualified in various academic disciplines.
The Sepam Vestibulares unit has been active in the university entrance preparation sector for over 40 years, establishing itself as a leader in admission results in Paraná, with more than ten thousand students accepted into prominent Brazilian universities.

Colégio Sepam boasts facilities designed to provide the best possible environment for its students.
Its staff comprises approximately 200 employees, including teachers and support personnel. The school features 10 rooms adapted for specific activities—such as chess, judo, yoga, table tennis, dance (body expression, ballet, rhythmic gymnastics), and the High School program—as well as a library with an integrated reading room, a Learning Center, a physical assessment room, a music room, and a psychomotor activity room. In addition to these specialized spaces, students also enjoy other campus facilities, including a gymnasium, an auditorium, playgrounds, and 37 classrooms.
Sports and Well-being
In addition to quality education, SEPAM fosters habits that promote health, physical activity, and socialization through comprehensive facilities, featuring spaces equipped for activities such as dance, chess, and table tennis. The school also encourages student participation in municipal, state, and national sports tournaments, as well as academic competitions like the Math and Astronomy Olympiads.
Physical Education classes are tailored to each age group. In Early Childhood Education, students explore the playgrounds through play-based activities and psychomotor exercises during extended-day sessions. In Elementary and Middle School, the curriculum includes activities such as board games, sports, and body expression classes. At the High School level, the program combines sports practice with a focus on theoretical content relevant to university entrance exams.
To stimulate auditory perception and artistic sensitivity, Early Childhood Education students also attend music classes integrated into the curriculum; these are adapted to their age group to foster musical development in a natural and engaging way.
Art and Expression
Arts education is an essential part of SEPAM’s educational approach, aiming to discover talent, broaden students’ cultural horizons, and provide experiences that extend beyond the classroom. From their earliest school years, students are encouraged to explore various artistic forms through a wide range of extracurricular activities.
Offerings include classes in theater, guitar, piano, drawing, “Baby Class,” Creative Dance, Jazz Kids, and Jazz Dance, among others. These experiences foster creative autonomy, personal expression, and aesthetic sensibility on an ongoing basis.
In addition to regular classes, the school hosts various cultural events throughout the year that showcase and celebrate student artistry—such as the Talent Show, Canta Sepam, the Theater Showcase, the Dance Showcase, “Back on the Stage,” the Music Recital, and the “Cultural Moment” (held every two months). These events strengthen bonds, boost self-esteem, and reinforce SEPAM’s role as a center for holistic education.
SEPAM High School MIZZOU
Official North American High School Curriculum
Since 2015, Colégio Sepam has exclusively offered an international high school program in the region through a partnership with the University of Missouri (Mizzou) in the United States—one of the top 60 American universities out of more than 4,800 nationwide. Participating students graduate with a dual curriculum: the Brazilian and the American. The program is available to students starting in the 9th grade of the Brazilian middle school system. Classes are conducted entirely in English by a native American teacher.
